After one and a half months of selection and preparation, 150 students stand out to join this year’s DeeCamp. The enrolled students are coming from more than 10 countries and regions, including China, the United States, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, Canada, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand, and France, making DeeCamp 2022 the most internationalized one in its 6 years history!
Among them, international students from overseas colleges and universities account for 28% of the total number of students. More than half of the students are doctoral candidates, while the proportion of undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students is 11%, 34%, and 55% respectively. Domestically most students are from Tsinghua University, the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Peking University, while overseas students are topped by Nanyang Technological University, Carnegie Mellon University, and Cornell University.
On June 25, although students were in different places and time zones, students gathered online to jointly open a new chapter of DeeCamp 2022. Dr. Kai-Fu, Lee, Chairman and CEO of Sinovation Ventures, sent a welcome speech to the students:
"When we launched DeeCamp 6 years ago, we intended to coach students to solve real-world challenges with AI. In the past camps, students had attained great achievements by using AI to solve problems that may be encountered in the real world.
As science-related intersections are demonstrating unlimited potential today, I am particularly enthusiastic about “AI + Science” and “AI + Life Science” which DeeCamp 2022 focuses on. We believe this will be a valuable “tech for good” trajectory leading to the greatest benefits to the human society.
As a VC investing heavily in deep technologies, one of Sinovation Ventures focused areas in recent years has been deploying healthcare tech investments. We hope that DeeCamp 2022 could bring inspiration for scientific research and hands-on opportunities to students, and create a talent pool for China’s AI + life science innovation.”
Since 2017, DeeCamp has been supported and recognized by many experts and scholars. CHEN Runsheng, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Research Fellow at the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, sent congratulations to students:
